Make Room for an Invitation

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.  

Reading: John 1:35–51

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.  
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

When the first disciples encountered Jesus, they began inviting others to come and see Him for themselves. Their invitations were simple, personal, and rooted in what they had experienced. We do not have to know all the answers or deliver a perfect explanation of our faith before we reach out to someone. Sometimes, the most meaningful first step is inviting someone into a conversation, sharing a meal, or making time to connect. As we create opportunities for relationships to grow, we open doors for others to experience the love of Jesus through us.

What simple invitation could you extend to someone this week to begin building a meaningful relationship?
        
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…  

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).  
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Jesus, give us the courage to take the first step toward others. Help us move beyond the fear of awkwardness or rejection and offer genuine invitations that communicate care. Teach us to create space in our lives for relationships that can draw others closer to You. Amen.
   
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

Reach out to one person today with a personal invitation, such as meeting for coffee, sharing lunch, taking a walk, or spending time together.
