Worship Before the Battle

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.  

Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:1-23

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.  
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

When Jehoshaphat faced overwhelming enemies, his first response was fear—then faith. He didn’t wait until victory was certain to worship; he worshiped before the battle began. This teaches us a profound truth: worship positions us for breakthrough. When we praise God before we see the answer, we declare our trust in His character over our circumstances.

Jehoshaphat sent worshipers ahead of the army, and God set ambushes against the enemy. Your worship today isn’t just response; it’s warfare. What battle are you facing? Before strategizing or panicking, worship. Declare God’s faithfulness, His power, and His promises. Let worship be your first weapon, not your last resort.

What situation in your life needs worship before you see the victory?   

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…  

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).  
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Father, when fear rises within me, help me choose faith. Teach me to worship You before I see the answer, trusting that You are already working on my behalf. Remind me that You are bigger than every battle I face. Let my praise declare my confidence in Your power, Your goodness, and Your perfect timing. Amen.
   
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.  

Faith Steps:

1. Spend five minutes praising God specifically for who He is before praying about your current struggle. 
2. Write down one promise from Scripture that speaks to your situation and thank God for it before you see the outcome.
