The Power of Prayer
Today, let’s get our hearts ready for what God wants to do during our time in worship together. We need the Holy Spirit to guide us and show us what He’s doing right now and what He wants to do in us. This means praying and asking Him to make us aware of His activity in our lives.
If you’re new to prayer and still figuring out how God speaks to us, pray the prayer below, expecting that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Jesus, Will You meet me here today? In my struggle, I need Your comfort and peace. In my joy, I want to celebrate with You. In everything, I need You, and I need this time with You right now. Amen.
Over the last few weeks, we have been discussing the role of prayer in discipleship. This week, we will focus on the role of prayer in fighting our spiritual battles. We need the power of God in our lives when facing all the ways spiritual battles manifest themselves. We take our hurt, frustration, and pain to God, seeking His supernatural power and provision. In doing so, we tap into the source of everything we need to remain faithful and face the battles ahead.
As you start thinking about this, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind or write them in a journal:
How has turning to God in times of struggle been a blessing in your life?
Take some time and reflect on all the ways God has come through for you.
Close your time today by talking with God about your thoughts. Take time to pray through the prompt. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
God, I need You to fight for me in [you fill in the blank] area of my life (or the life of someone you know).
Stay in this mindset of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church today, ask God to speak to you!
