Living for Christ

Today, we are going to talk about living our lives for Christ. More specifically, how our lives should look if we truly believe that Jesus died for our sins. Before we do so, let’s take a moment to prepare our hearts.

God, be with me in this moment. Prepare my heart for the things You are going to speak to me. Allow me to be open and honest with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

2 Corinthians 5:15 (NLT)

15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

This verse is short and simple. Jesus died for everyone so that they would live for Him. We understand what it means that Jesus died for everyone, but what does it mean to live for Him? How do you believe you are living for Christ in your life currently? Take a moment to think about this question.

To live for Christ means to die to ourselves. To forfeit the plans we have for our lives so that we can live out the plan God has designed for us. To sacrifice our “me time” to spend time with a friend who is going through a hard season of life. To get out of our comfort zone to declare the gospel to a coworker and invite them to church.

Living for Christ simply means that we think of others before we think of ourselves. We live our lives to advance the kingdom of God by being examples of Christ in the way we love, the peace we have, and the joy that fills our lives. A heart that truly believes Jesus died for our sins will be evident in the way we live our lives for Him.

Take some time praying and inviting God to reveal some things in your life.

Ask God to show you what needs to change in your life to live for Him.

Surrender your way of life to God so you can live out His plan.

I pray that you find true joy in living your life for Christ.

The daily devotionals are a blessing. This past week has truly been great for God's direction in my life. He has opened my heart and mind to things I need to change. He's directing me in more of what I can do and some things I need to cut out of my life so that He can work through me more. God bless you all and know you are doing important work for Jesus!
